Does the audio converter upload my file anywhere?
No. The file is opened and converted by your own browser, and the result is saved straight to your computer. Nothing is sent to us, so there is nothing for us to keep or delete.
Which format should I convert to?
MP3 is small and plays on everything. WAV is the sound with no compression, for editing. FLAC keeps the same detail as WAV in a smaller file. M4A is smaller than MP3 at the same quality and suits iPhones. OGG is an open format that most browsers and game engines play.
Does converting improve the sound?
No. Converting keeps the quality a file already has and can never add to it: an MP3 saved as WAV or FLAC sounds the same, only bigger. Pick High quality to lose as little as possible.
How big a file can the audio converter open?
Up to 1 GB. Long files are fine; the time it takes depends on your computer, since nothing is uploaded. Closing the tab stops it.
